Plagiarism is the act of using another person's ideas, writings, data, research results, images, or other work without proper acknowledgement and sourcing. This act constitutes a violation of academic ethics and can impact the credibility of research and the scientific publication process.
Forms of plagiarism that are considered violations in the Journal of Sport Education and Technology include:
- Direct Plagiarism
Copying part or all of the contents of another person's work directly without citing the appropriate source.
- Self-Plagiarism
Reusing your own previously published work without providing a clear explanation or citation.
- Mosaic Plagiarism
Taking ideas, sentence structures, or specific parts from another work with slight changes without giving credit to the original source. - Data Plagiarism
Using research data, research results, tables, images, or documents belonging to other parties without permission and without citing the source.
- Improper Citation
Inappropriate use of reference sources or inappropriate citations that eliminate the recognition of the original author.
Every article submitted to the Journal of Sport Education and Technology will go through a similarity checking process using a plagiarism detection tool before entering the review stage.
The review process is carried out to:
- Identify the level of similarity between the article and other publications
- Detect the possibility of plagiarism
- Maintain the originality of the manuscript
- Ensure compliance with publication ethics
Manuscripts with a level of similarity exceeding the limits set by journal policy will be further evaluated by the editor. The percentage of similarity is not the sole basis for assessment, as the editor also considers the context of the citation, the reference source, and the type of similarity found. If indications of plagiarism are found, the editor may take the following actions:
- Return the article to the author for revision
- Request clarification from the author
- Reject the article before the review process
- Stop the publication process
- Retract the published article if violations are discovered after publication
If violations of publication ethics are proven, the journal reserves the right to take further action according to the severity of the violation.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that all quotations, citations, data, figures, and references are properly cited. By submitting an article to the Journal of Sport Education and Technology, the author is deemed to have agreed to the applicable plagiarism policy and declares that the submitted article is an original work.
